Amberlee went through 12 hours of labor, but don't feel too bad for her. . . She slept through most of it. We got to the hospital at 6:00 am and went into our room. They broke Amberlee's water and started her on Pitosin. Amberlee was doing good for the first few hours with regular contractions that were gradually increasing in intensity. After a few hours Amberlee had had enough pain. She asked for an epidural and within a few minutes the anesthesiologist was in our room giving her an epidural. Once Amberlee received the epidural she no longer felt pain from the contractions. She was still having regular contractions, but she was able to sleep through them. She didn't sleep much the night before, so as soon as she got the epidural she went to sleep. They woke her up a few hours later and checked her out and she was dilated to a 6. She went back to sleep for a few hours and woke up and she was at a 9.5 but they wanted the baby to drop a little more. She went back to sleep for a bit and then she was ready to push. We had to wait a little while for the doctor to show up. Amberlee had to push for about 20 minutes and then little baby Porter was out and in her arms. Everything went perfect. We spent the next two nights in the hospital and were able to go home on Friday after lunch. While in the hospital I was changing his first poopy diaper and sure enough he showered me with pee. Don't worry, we are friends again. Friday night my parents and brother Kenny came to visit from South Jordan, UT. We had a nice visit and little Porter was a perfect angel child. I go back to work tomorrow morning and am not sure if I will be able to survive being away from my little boy for that long. We are all doing great and are so thankful for our little boy's safe arrival. Thank you to all of you for your thoughts, support, prayers, phone calls, and visits.
